Earlier today, President Biden’s government officially said they would not end the rule stopping Apple from selling the latest Apple Watches in the U.S. Apple is not happy about this at all.
Apple said in a statement that they really disagreed with the decision. They will do everything possible to start selling the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 to customers in America again soon. Apple is even appealing the ruling.
The company has been working hard on the Apple Watch to help people live healthier lives. They are sad that millions of Watch users around the world cannot get the newest models now because of this ban. Apple promises to try different legal and tech solutions so customers can buy the latest Watches again as fast as they can.
The ban means the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 aren’t available from Apple stores or on Apple’s website in America anymore. But you can still get them from other stores online like Best Buy or Amazon for now. Apple says this ruling does not impact repairs or support for people who bought the new Watches before Christmas Day.
Apple engineers are rushing to make a software update that could help avoid the patent issues causing the ban. But the other company involved, called Masimo, says the hardware inside the Watch would need to change, not just the software.
In general, Apple is not taking this ban lying down. They will fight it to bring their flagship Watch models back to the customers who want them in the US market as soon as possible.
