YouTube Games Disappearing Soon

YouTube announced Playables late last year, allowing users to play simple games on the video streaming service. It turns out that Playables is leaving the service soon.

YouTube Playables will end on March 28th. This date was shared last year when Playables launched as a test. So it seems the games were only temporary rather than being removed for low popularity.

Playable games included things like Angry Birds, billiards and solitaire – much simpler than Google’s cancelled gaming service Stadia. The feature was only available for YouTube Premium subscribers on mobile and desktop.

We’ve asked YouTube if Playables will ever return or if this is really the end. Their response will help show if streaming games on YouTube has a future. For now, YouTube gamers only have a few more days left to get their game on through Playables.

March 28th marks the planned conclusion of YouTube’s experiment with integrating gaming. Only time will tell if they try bringing games back in a bigger way down the road. For the moment, YouTube viewers will have to stick to watching videos instead of playing along.
