There are a lot of potential AI uses in email, so check your old Yahoo Mail address because Yahoo wants to add more AI features. Yahoo worked with Google Cloud to build out new generative AI functions for Yahoo Mail users on both websites and iOS.
One ability is called “Shopping Saver”, which uses AI to scan your emails for forgotten gift cards, discount codes or store credits from past shopping trips. It can then help compose messages to reuse those savings, even after the original purchase date.
Yahoo says nearly half of American adults have at least one unused promo code sitting in emails they forgot about. Shopping Saver aims to help users save both time and cash.
Additional capabilities include an improved search that lets you ask questions rather than type keywords. AI also assists with choosing the right email tone and highlights vital info from messages.
By integrating useful AI functions, Yahoo Mail hopes to stay relevant despite growing competition. Only time will tell if these upgrades convince past users to return to their Yahoo inboxes.
