WhatsApp Finally Getting Longer Videos in Statuses

WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows users to share longer videos in their status updates, similar to Instagram Stories. Video status uploads are limited to 30 seconds at the moment, forcing users to chop up longer clips.

WhatsApp Status Videos Now Up To 60 Seconds

In a new test, WhatsApp is letting people post videos in their statuses that are up to 60 seconds long. This is double the current limit. People who update to the latest beta version will be able to both post and view the longer status videos.

Catch Up On Friends’ Days With Full-Length Videos

Now users can share more complete moments from their day. No more cutting longer videos into pieces. Friends will get a better sense of what someone was up to from a single 60-second clip. However, longer videos may make statuses harder to quickly scan like before.

Update Now To Try Out Extended Video Statuses!

The new video length is currently in testing with select beta users. WhatsApp will see how it goes and roll it out wider soon. If you update your app, you could be one of the first to try sharing – and watching – these extended video updates!
