What You Should Know About iPhone 12

The iPhone 12 has been out for two weeks and users can agree that one major thing that the iPhone 12 features are its camera.

Here’s a quick overview of what you should know about iPhone 12

Camera

The back camera can record videos 4KHDR 60 frames per second. The video can also record in HDR which is awesome.

With a 12 megapixel ultrawide camera featuring a focus of 2.4 aperture, a 120-degree wide eye field of view, and a 13-millimeter focal length, apple offers one of the best cameras in the smartphone market. There is one more amazing surprise. Apple has added a lens corrective feature, this corrects any distortion that is caused by the super wide-angle. Amazing, right.

The iPhone 12 Pro models have a third telephoto lens in addition to two cameras of the iPhone 12 classic models. This means that the iPhone 12 has no optical zoom-in but this feature in the iPhone 12 classic model has been replaced with a 5x digital zoom-in.

The colour issues the previous models have in their photos has been fixed in the new iPhone 12 Pro. This is also evident in the night photos taken by the iPhone 12 Pro trio-camera. With a tripod and a 30-second exposure, you can put this to the test. You will be left drooling at the amazing shots the iPhone 12 can produce.

Talking about night shots, we have the new lidar sensor and it does a great job with autofocus and tracking because it is using lasers to actually sense depth by bouncing lasers off the target back to it to sense the actual depth. It can also take some nice Augmented reality shots. The iPhone Pro Max is not out yet but it is said to possess the new sensor-shift stabilization and bigger sensor.

Performance

The iPhone 12 has a new neural engine that’s found on the a14 CPU is responsible for the amazing photos and videos were taken by the King of smartphones, as we would like to call it, among other things.

The new iPhone 12 has really fast and powerful processing. Opening and switching between apps are a lot faster which will be noticed immediately by and the android user or a user of an iPhone 10 and below. The apps also do not close in the background, which would mean you would continue where you left off when you are switching back to the minimized app.

Design

The new phone design is different from recent iPhones bit similar to the old iPhone 4 and 5. The outside rim is stainless steel and you are with glass front and back so that you have that stainless feel on the sides of the iPhone 12.

With the stainless steel on the outside like an iPhone 4 and the flattened edges of the iPhone 5 and 5s, the iPhone 12 might have your reminiscing about the older iPhone generations.

Although you might not be a fan of the fingerprint revealing stainless steel sides, one perk of this design is that it is easier to grip because it is squared off. The matte finish on the back is also a fan favorite.

Display

With up to 800 nits of brightness, the iPhone 12 is easy to see in the sunlight. This is a major downside for a lot of other smartphone producers. That’s not all, the display goes up to about 1200 nits of brightness when you are watching HDR content.

It introduced an OLED display across the lineup with a Super Retina XDR display. That is super cool if you ask us. There is a 2,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio for really black blacks and brighter whites.

If PMW bothers you or you have a sensitivity to light, surprisingly the flickering may not bother you because it does so at a higher rate where there is something different about it. This ensures that the flickering does not bother you at any brightness level.

If you are to be watching amazing HDR content on the new iPhone 12 you would need great speakers to accompany the amazing view with correspondingly amazing sound. Apple delivered on this by making sure that the iPhone 12 is clearer on its loudest sound as opposed to the iPhone 11.

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 pro’s displays have a ceramic shield so it is four times less likely to break if you drop it. However, there will not be much of an improvement with scratch resistance. We are hoping that this is not so with the iPhone 12 Pro Max when it is eventually released.

If you are using the iPhone 12 or 12 Pro or you are planning to, we have some heads up for you, get a screen shield or protector.

Charging

The iPhone 12 uses wireless charging technology by allowing you to use the MagSafe which you can connect to the back of a case or the back of the iPhone 12 itself. unfortunately, it is not completely wireless because it’s more or less like you are using a power bank.

After all, you are still gonna have to plug into the port anyway. We’ll be okay with this feature because we believe this is Apple’s first step to offering a fully wireless iPhone.

5G

The 5G feature in the new iPhone 12 is awesome as it provides us with the ability to surf the internet at Amazing speeds. However, the millimeter-wave antenna is only available in the US so this is really hit or miss.
