Twitter Goes Down: X Has Strange Outage

Early this morning, the X platform (formerly known as Twitter) stopped working for over an hour. On the website, a message said “Welcome to X!” and asked users to find people to follow.

Internet monitors at Netblocks noticed a major worldwide outage. It wasn’t because certain countries blocked access.

Mobile apps showed timelines that wouldn’t refresh. On the website, people couldn’t see new tweets. Posts made during the outage disappeared after refreshing. But notifications for new tweets still worked okay.

Even big accounts like Elon Musk, Support, and CEO Linda couldn’t share updates because timelines were blank. The API status page also didn’t report any issues.

Users first reported problems around 12:30 a.m., according to the website Down Detector. Service was restored around 1:35 a.m., but we don’t know what caused the outage.

Last week, X had another outage that broke outgoing website links for a few hours. As before, the company’s PR team didn’t provide details. Paying subscribers and advertisers will want answers.

The outage meant X went down under for over an hour. Hopefully, the new management can keep the site up and running more reliably going forward. Let me know in the comments if you had issues with Twitter last night too!
