Speechify’s iOS App Gets New Tools For Reading On The Go

With its iOS app (v3.0), Speechify has redesigned its home page, added the ability to scan documents, integrated Gmail and Canvas learning platforms, and added an explore page to explore in-app content.

The home screen now has quick access to import files from places like your phone, Google Drive, Kindle and more. You can also scan physical pages and add them to read later. It can scan two pages of a book at once.

There is a daily reading goal that you set, like a Fitness ring. Speechify also links to your Gmail so emails can be read aloud. Any PDFs you get will be imported too. Students can access Canvas homework assignments through the app. Files on your phone sync automatically as well.

New widgets let you import sources fast, check your reading progress or keep listening without opening the app. You can listen to voices offline too now.

Speechify updated the AI voices for a better sound. Celebrity voices from Snoop Dogg and MrBeast were tuned up. The app summarizes documents and reads them for you.

An exciting new feature clones your voice so the app reads with a voice just like yours! Now text can be read back in your own voice.

With 23 million users signing up, Speechify is very popular. Partnerships with apps like the shut down Artifact help it grow. The company plans to share its text-to-speech technology through a public API too.

An explore section presents productivity, self-improvement and learning topics in stories format. This gives new users quick interesting content to dive into. Speechify finds most keep using it after 500 words.

Competitors include read later app Pocket and The New York Times audio app. But Speechify wants to be the one-stop shop for all reading and listening needs through its many integrations.
