No More Compact Flagships as ASUS Reportedly Ends Zenfone Line

No More Compact Flagships as ASUS Reportedly Ends Zenfone Line

The ASUS Zenfone 10 has been mentioned to be the best compact flagship, offering a powerful experience without any of the usual downsides. Even the Zenfone 9 has received positive reviews from many reviewers. Many praise ASUS for keeping up with trends such as including a 3.5mm headphone jack and maintaining a compact flagship unlike its competitors. Despite this, new reports suggest ASUS is shutting down its Zenfone division.

A report from TechNews Taiwan states that ASUS is restructuring internally. Sadly, the Zenfone team looks set to disband, with employees moving to other departments like ROG Phones. It’s said the Zenfone 10 will be the final model.

This follows strange moves like blocking bootloader access and pulling old firmware. While not direct proof, it adds to worries the Zenfone was winding down.

Without Zenfone, the compact flagship space loses a major player. ROG phones may adopt a smaller model, but that’s a very niche niche. Customers want options beyond ever-expanding phones.

Losing Zenfone leaves a hole that other OEMs seem unwilling to fill. ASUS offered top power in small shells – their departure darkens the future for hands not made for phablets.
