Google Messages App Coming To More Than Just Your Phone

Google Messages May Soon Let You Text Via Satellite

A new update for Google Messages will allow you to access messages and RCS chats across multiple devices, according to reports. As of now, only your primary phone can be used to read, send, and receive messages in Google Messages. You can workaround this by using a mobile browser on your other device to access Messages for Web. According to reports, Google will soon remove this restriction and allow you to use the Google Messages app across multiple devices.

Code found in the Google Messages app suggests Google plans to let you sync your chat history using just your phone number and Google account. This would let you see and send messages on devices like a second phone or tablet, without needing to move your SIM card. It’s similar to how WhatsApp works, letting you use your account on up to 4 devices at once.

We don’t know yet if Google will limit how many devices you can sync Messages to. Once enabled, the update should make it easy to access chats on any Android device signed into your Google account. This will be a big change for Messages users and bring it more in line with popular messaging apps.

The multi-device support is not out yet, but it’s something Google is working on. Stay tuned for more updates on when the feature will launch and how it may work. Being able to use Google Messages across phones and tablets could make it a more attractive messaging option for Android users. An update that brings messages beyond just your main phone is great news!
