BuyPower is a Nigerian Startup that was birthed sometime in 2015 from the fact that the Nigerian hustle will at most times not allow people to keep up with the challenges of paying their utility bills on time and sometimes meaning that they get to sleep one or two nights in total darkness. The annoying thing with these nights is that Power is often very available and this leads to a feel of deliberate torment that was definitely not intended by the Power holding company.

The very difficult part of the project was that the billing software that was being used by the Power Holding Company was incredibly archaic and this challenge took no less than six months for the duo of Benjamin Ufaruna and Asehinde Oladipo to fix.

As to what motivated Ufaruna and Oladipo, it was definitely the frustration that he had noticed in the poise of people waiting on long queues on Fridays just to pay up for their electricity bill or be doomed till the next week.

While pitching the startup idea to the electricity company, BuyPower stated that they would self-fund their project.

As of today, BuyPower has 40% of all the prepaid meter subscribers in Abuja and are looking to spread to Jos, Plateau state.

BuyPower now generates about 1 million Naira a month from billing customers NGN 150.00 per transaction. BuyPower looks to handle all utility payments in Nigeria after gaining a major foothold in the Electricity business.
