Beware of Fake Crypto App impersonating Rabby Wallet on the App Store

The iOS App Store has once again been accused of approving a scam app. Rabby Wallet developers are warning their users about a fake version of their app available for iPhone and iPad. The fake app has been fooling users for over a week but Apple has now removed it from the store.

The fake app is called “Rabby Wallet & Crypto Solution.”. It looks similar to the real Rabby Wallet app but was not made by real developers. Some unlucky users have lost money after downloading this fake app, thinking it was the real one. One user said on Reddit, “I’m sad that I lost money because I made a mistake. But shouldn’t Apple check these apps better?”

The real Rabby Wallet team first warned Apple and its users about this fake app over 4 days ago. At that time, the fake one was still available for people to download, while the real app was waiting for Apple’s approval. Last year, there was another fake crypto wallet app scam too.

Unfortunately scams like this are not new on the App Store. Other popular apps like LastPass have also had fake copies submitted. When an app like Rabby Wallet gets popular, scammers try to trick people downloads fake versions. This can cause people to lose money or have their accounts stolen.

Apple says they don’t allow scam apps but they need to do better checks. Even though the fake Rabby Wallet app has now been removed, it shows Apple still has more work to do protecting users. If you see an app claiming to be from a famous company, check it is from the real developer. Only download apps from official websites until Apple makes the App Store safer from imposter apps like this. Your money and accounts depend on it!
