YouTube Premium gets more expensive in these countries

After a price increase in the United States in July, YouTube Premium is now increasing internationally as well. In Europe, Asia-Pacific, and South America, Google Video is rolling out this feature slowly. Starting on November 1st, YouTube Premium prices went up in 7 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Chile, Germany, Poland, and Turkey.

The price hike applies to individual plans, family plans, and student plans for both YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium. In Australia, for example, the individual YouTube Premium plan is now $16.99 Australian dollars. This is said to be the first-ever price bump for subscriptions in Australia. For current users paying less, YouTube Premium will keep the previous price for at least 3 more months.

Subscribers in the affected countries will see the new prices on their next billing date. YouTube mentioned in emails to users that they don’t make these kinds of decisions lightly. Raising prices allows them to keep improving Premium and supporting all the creators and artists on the platform.

The increased costs are being rolled out country by country in these regions, not all at once across Europe, Asia, and South America. It comes after YouTube globally banned ad blockers on all devices. YouTube Premium removes ads when watching videos. It also lets you listen without watching, download videos, and try new features early. Signing up directly on YouTube is cheaper than through app stores too.

Be sure to check your subscription page on YouTube to manage your Premium membership as prices change internationally. With added features and creator support, YouTube Premium continues globally but is now at a slightly higher monthly rate for some users.
