You Could Get Money Back From Vizio For Your Old TV

Vizio may owe you money if you bought a TV after April 30th, 2014. After being sued for false and deceptive marketing of 120Hz and 240Hz “effective” refresh rates in 2018, Vizio agreed to pay out $3 million. The company denies that it did anything wrong. Claims must be submitted by March 30th next year, and evidence of ownership must be provided.

So what happened? Well, in 2018 some people sued Vizio. They said Vizio was lying when they advertised TVs with speeds like 120Hz and 240Hz. Those numbers usually mean how fast the screen can refresh. But the lawsuit said the TVs were actually slower. Vizio said they didn’t do anything wrong.

Even though Vizio said they didn’t lie, they agreed to pay $3 million to settle the lawsuit. The money will go to people who bought Vizio TVs in California after April 30, 2014. To get your part of the money, you need to fill out a claim form by March 30, 2024. You’ll also need to prove you owned one of the TVs, like with a receipt or the serial number.

As well as paying claims, Vizio also promised to stop using words like “effective refresh rate” that confused people about speeds. They’ll also give everyone who claims a one-year warranty on their old TV just in case.

So if you have an older Vizio TV, you should check the settlement website to see if you can get some money back. It might help make up for what you paid thinking you got a faster screen than you really did. Just act before the deadline in March!
