Xiaomi is replacing MIUI with their new all-in-one HyperOS

Xiaomi has announced the release of its HyperOS operating system. According to Xiaomi, it will be available globally and debut in the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series. In addition, HyperOS will gradually replace Xiaomi’s 13-year-old MIUI operating system.

HyperOS is designed to work across all of Xiaomi’s products, like smartphones, smart home devices, cars, and more. With over 200 product categories, Xiaomi wants an OS that can connect everything seamlessly. HyperOS aims to bring together features that make all Xiaomi devices work together nicely.

Xiaomi has been working on HyperOS for a while now. As early as 2014, they started exploring how to connect Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Then, in 2017, they officially started developing a new system to support all their products within one framework. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun wants HyperOS to act as a common platform for the “Internet of Everything” with devices and connections in the tens of billions in the future!

Although the new OS will launch with the Xiaomi 14 phones, we don’t know much about what it will look like or what new features it will bring. Xiaomi has kept HyperOS under wraps so far. We may find out more when the Xiaomi 14 series phones are announced later this month.

In summary, HyperOS seems designed to be an ecosystem operating system that ties together Xiaomi’s huge range of smart home and electronic devices. Only time will tell if it achieves Xiaomi’s lofty vision of an integrated platform for their connected future.
