Finally Fix Those Silly Text Mistakes With Google Messages

We’ve all had that moment when we realize a mistake in a text message. As of now, there is no way to fix a mistake in Google Messages after it has been sent. However, that status quo may soon change.

Google appears to be working on a new “edit message” feature in the Messages app. Tech experts found clues that editing may become possible by adjusting some settings in the latest beta version.

Once turned on, you’ll be able to edit any text sent within the last 30 minutes. Just press and hold the message, then tap the little pencil icon to make corrections.

Other senders will see your message edit history too. But right now the edits won’t display correctly for someone who hasn’t enabled the feature yet. For them, edits come through as separate texts.

This news comes soon after Google was spotted testing reactions to messages, similar to Instagram. While reactions are still in development, editing looks closer to reality based on what experts uncovered.

Fixing typos in texts will save embarrassment and clear up confusion. The new editor could be rolling out to the stable version soon. So stay tuned for a stress-free way to patch up message mistakes!
