GoPro founder and CEO Nick Woodman said a new GoPro Max 360 camera is being made and will be worth waiting for. This news is exciting because the first GoPro Max came out a long time ago, back in October 2019.
We don’t know much about the new GoPro Max yet. When we asked GoPro, they just said, “No comment.”
GoPro was one of the first companies to sell 360-degree cameras to regular people. A few years ago, they made the Fusion and a special camera called Omni that took 360 photos but needed six GoPros! Neither was very good.
The GoPro Max made 360-degree video easier because you only needed one camera. You didn’t have to connect all the footage to a computer afterwards.
Since then, another company called Insta360 has been leading the way with new 360 cameras. They made cameras that you could add different parts to. They also made cameras with bigger image sensors and features to make HDR photos. Insta360’s software is better for viewing and editing 360 videos too. You can do selfies and cool video transitions, which GoPro Max can’t do yet.
The GoPro Max pictures are still very clear. But GoPro needs to work harder to catch up with new features. I hope the new GoPro Max impresses us all! Let me know if you get your hands on one before winter so I can see the new photos and video for myself.
