How to play Steam games on your Android Phones and Tablets

Before we get started, let’s set expectations straight. You are not actually launching and playing High end games on your Android Phones and Tablets but you are actually streaming the games through your Android Phones and Tablet while it’s still running on your PC that’s on the same Wi-Fi connection. Streaming the games means your PC does all the hard work of running the games and your Android device just displays the video and sends your button presses.

To start streaming your Steam games, you need to first install the Steam application on your PC if you don’t already have it. Then you need to open Steam, click on Settings and select Remote Play. Make sure the box next to “Enable Remote Play” is ticked. This will allow your PC to be discovered on the same network.

Next, download the Steam Link app on your Android device from the Google Play Store. Once installed, open the app and it will automatically find the PC running Steam on the same Wi-Fi network. Select the PC and enter the 4-digit code shown to pair the devices. Steam Link will run a quick network test.

You can now see your entire Steam games library on your Android device. Select any game and it will start streaming gameplay from your PC onto your phone or tablet. You can use the touchscreen as controller or pair a supported Bluetooth controller for a better experience.

Steam Link supports various popular controllers like DualShock 4 and Xbox controllers out of the box. Other controllers may need button remapping. The quality of stream depends on your home internet speed. It’s best to use a modern Wi-Fi router supporting Wi-Fi 5 or 6 standards.

So in summary, by installing just two free apps – Steam and Steam Link, you can expand your Steam gaming experience beyond the PC to your Android Phones and Tablets. All through high-quality, low-latency game streaming over your home network. No need for expensive streaming devices anymore!
