X is launching a dedicated TV app for videos uploaded to its social network. The app’s interface looks very similar to YouTube’s, as seen in a teaser video shared by X CEO Linda Yaccarino on Tuesday. The new app will allow streaming videos from X directly to your smart TV in the living room.
Dubbed the “X TV App”, it will provide an immersive entertainment experience on the bigger screen. The app interface showcases suggested videos and lets users search or browse trending topics. It will also remember where you left off watching on your phone so you can seamlessly continue on TV. The TV app should be available soon for download via the most popular smart TV platforms.
The launch is part of X’s goal to transform into a “video first” platform. It already hosts shows from former politicians like Tulsi Gabbard and sports commentators. With the TV app, all of X’s video content will now be easily accessible from the comfort of your couch too.
X users have been awaiting an easy way to stream videos to their televisions. The new app provides a solution and takes advantage of big-screen viewing. With a design inspired by the popular YouTube TV app, X is making it simple to keep watching engaging video clips on an even larger display very soon!
