Meta is adding a new trick to Meta AI, its AI chatbot that is already available on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Although Meta AI can already respond to questions, suggest captions, and hold conversations, users are unable to share or upload photos. Soon, that will change with an exciting new WhatsApp update.
The latest WhatsApp beta reveals Meta AI will gain the ability to interact with users’ photos. A camera button in the chat allows sending pictures directly to the AI assistant. This means Meta AI can now view, comment on, and even edit images shared by WhatsApp users.
The AI may provide info about objects or locations it recognizes. It could offer context about the photo’s content too. Best of all, users may be able to request edits to their pictures through simple prompts right in the chat. While the editing scope is unknown, it opens possibilities for powerful AI-driven photo edits.
This puts Meta’s Meta AI ahead in the AI race by offering image analysis and responses. Of course, Meta will see uploaded photos, but users can delete them anytime. The feature still needs work, so it may be a while before public use.
Soon, Meta AI will view more than just text. By gaining photo powers on WhatsApp, this AI enters new visual territory that could revolutionize how people engage with artificial intelligence through their mobile devices.
