With Vids, you can make a video project from scratch or let the AI help you. The AI is called Gemini and it can do a lot. Gemini can create slides for your video, write a script for what to say, find stock photos and videos to use, and plan the full video for you. You can then edit the video yourself by adding or removing slides, text, pictures, and recordings. Finally, you export the video as an MP4 file.
Compared to Google Docs where AI help is tucked away, Vids puts the Gemini prompt front and center. When starting a new project, describe your video’s topic or goal in a sentence or two. Or connect to files in your Google Drive. You can also skip the AI and use template videos.
Some examples of what Gemini can make are basic now but will get better over time. The app works well for short, one-time videos for work or school that don’t need to be perfect. Thanks to Gemini, creating videos won’t take as long as doing it manually.
If you have a Google Workspace account, sign up for Workspace Labs to try out Google Vids for yourself before it launches to the public later.
