There are many ways to share files between your PC and Android phone. Google’s Quick Share feature, for instance, lets users wirelessly share files from their phones to their PCs. Microsoft is now offering an easier way to do this.
Microsoft has released an update for those in its Windows Insider program. The update adds a new “My Phone” icon when you go to share something from your PC. Clicking this icon lets you easily send it to your Android.
The “My Phone” icon only shows up if your devices are paired using the Link to Windows app on Android and Phone Link on PC. Once paired, just look for the icon next time you want to share between devices.
While this feature is currently in beta, its appearance in the test version means it may roll out to everyone soon. The update also improves Start menu pinned apps and Windows Spotlight images.
Pairing your phone and PC with Microsoft’s apps, then using the neat “My Phone” button could be the simplest way to shuttle files back and forth yet. With any luck, this useful sharing tool hits general release in the near future.
