YouTube Premium Gets More Tools to Enjoy Videos

YouTube is rolling out a number of new features for Premium users, including smart downloads and picture-in-picture mode for Shorts, as well as the “Jump Ahead” feature for navigating through videos. Premium allows ad-free viewing and background playback of videos.

The new upgrades give more control over Shorts, YouTube’s short video format. Picture-in-picture mode lets viewers continue watching Shorts while using other apps on their phone. Smart downloads means the YouTube app will automatically save some Shorts you might like based on what you previously watched offline.

YouTube’s “Jump Ahead” button helps skip unnecessary parts when tapped twice during a video. Machine learning identifies the most interesting sections. This tool launched last month for Android and will come to iPhones soon.

Premium members can also try out new experimental features temporarily. An AI chatbot lets users ask video-related questions and get recommendations. Smart downloads for Shorts and redesigned video pages on computers are also being tested.

YouTube aims to enhance the Premium experience with these additions. As competition from TikTok rises, upgraded membership perks keep seasoned YouTube viewers engaged. With over 100 million paid users globally already, these multi-language updates further strengthen YouTube’s grip on the online video market.
