Xbox adds Voice Chat Reporting

Xbox is introducing new tools to combat toxicity and harassment in Call of Duty voice chats. It will allow players to record and report offensive audio clips to Xbox moderators for review.

This feature lets you capture audio clips of inappropriate voice messages in the moment, then submit your report later. You don’t have to interrupt your gameplay. Xbox says they are not actively listening to or storing voice chats – recording is just for moderation purposes. Clips are deleted after 24 hours.

When you submit a report, you can provide any context to help moderators understand the situation. Xbox will notify players about what actions were taken in response to their reports.

Human moderators, not algorithms, will review the audio clips. They will consider the context surrounding the reported speech. Players can also appeal moderation decisions.

The voice moderation tools are first rolling out to Xbox Insiders in English-speaking countries to gather feedback. After that, Xbox plans a wider release later this year.

Xbox’s Kim Kunes said reactive voice monitoring represents “the next step in Xbox’s holistic approach to ensuring player safety.” They want Xbox to be “a welcoming and safe place for everyone.” The tools give players a way to combat toxicity while minimizing disruptions to gameplay.

The shorter summary aims to communicate the key points in about 400 words of straight-to-the-point, simplified language. Please let me know if you’d like me to clarify or expand anything further.
