Your Old Apple Watch Bands Still Fit the New Series 10

Apple Watch Series 10 was launched yesterday, featuring a superior speaker, larger display, thinner design, water temperature sensor, and more. A common concern among those who plan to upgrade is the compatibility of their bands. With the Series 10’s larger build, will older Apple Watch bands fit? I’m glad to say yes.

Apple has made the Apple Watch comes in two sizes forever – small and large. Small bands fit small watches and large bands fit large watches. Series 10 comes in a 42mm small and 46mm large, a bit bigger than before. But don’t fret, your bands are all compatible.

Small bands from past small watches will fit the 42mm Series 10 small watch. And large bands from earlier large watches will fit the 46mm Series 10 large watch too. Apple has done size increases before with older versions and never broken band compatibility as long as you stay with small or large.

The Series 10 wasn’t expected to add a magnetic system so your bands connect differently either. Apple wants you to keep using the band collection you already paid for with the new watches. So whether you’ve worn a 38/42mm or 40/44mm or 41/45mm in the past, your old bands will attach to the Series 10 without issues.

Upgrading your Apple Watch shouldn’t mean replacing all your bands too. As long as you choose the Series 10 in the size your watch has always been – small or large – your bands carry on fitting perfectly. Now you can enjoy the Series 10’s improvements without the extra cost of new bands too!
