In today’s episode of What Should I Be When I Grow Up, X wants to compete with YouTube. While the unhinged platform plans to eventually replace Venmo, LinkedIn, Google Meet, and WhatsApp, its short-term focus is video content. So, naturally, the company has launched a native smart TV app to make it easier for families to bond over X videos.
The app called “X TV” lets users watch videos straight from their TV. It’s available on Google’s app store, Amazon’s app store and LG smart TVs. Apple TV users have to wait since the app isn’t there yet.
Once signed in with their X account, people can browse and stream live broadcasts, recorded clips and news updates in one place. Before this, casting mobile videos was the only big-screen option.
The new TV app gives a more immersive viewing experience compared to watching on a phone or tablet. No need to hold or pass around devices either.
Will X create a dating app next to connect people? Only time will tell what this changing platform tries next!
