Deadlock has finally, officially been announced by Valve, in the most minimalist way possible. There is now a Steam page for the game, which lists Valve as its developer and publisher, as well as the following notice:
Valve has revealed some basic details about their new multiplayer game called “Deadlock.” The game is still in the early stages of development with placeholder art and experimental gameplay. Only friends invited by the testers can currently play it. No other information is provided except that the game requires a computer from this decade!
While Deadlock has been secretly tested by some for months, thousands more have joined recently after being invited by early players. Even news sites like The Verge got to try it out last week. Now many popular streamers on services like Twitch are letting their fans watch them play the new game live.
It’s unknown if Deadlock will become as popular as Valve classics like Counter-Strike or Dota 2. Some other Valve games in the past attracted many players at first but then faded away over time. Only continued development will show if Deadlock sticks around for the long run or not. Fans will have to wait to see what Deadlock is really about!
