Several months ago, Google confirmed that a new Quick Settings tile was coming for Google Wallet. It seemed, however, that Samsung phones didn’t have the feature at the time. But that’s changing this week.
Reports now say the Google Wallet quick tile is rolling out to Samsung devices. All you need is version 24.39 of the Google Play services app and version 24.38 of the Wallet app.
This is good news because Samsung has removed the old Wallet quick tile from its phones. So Samsung users didn’t have a quick and easy way to access passes, and tickets or make payments right from their notification shade.
The new Wallet tile is much better since it works like any other app tile. That means Samsung can’t remove it anymore. Now anyone with a Samsung can just pull down their notifications and tap to open Wallet with one simple gesture.
Being able to see tickets or make contactless payments without fully opening the Wallet app is super convenient. You get a quick confirmation right on your lock screen that the payment went through.
If you have a Samsung, be on the lookout for the Wallet tile update soon. Getting instant access to Google Pay and other passes in one touch will be a real timesaver. It’s nice to see Samsung phones finally offered the same quick and easy Google Wallet access as other Android devices.
