New Spotify Tools Help Podcasters Moderate Listener Comments

Earlier this year, Spotify started letting listeners comment on podcast episodes on the app, and it now offers podcasters new tools to manage and moderate comments. Spotify added a new auto-moderation tool to help podcasters review comments and filter out any that are inappropriate.

The auto-moderation tool lets podcasters choose low, standard, or high settings. The low setting automatically posts all comments. The standard setting holds comments that might be sensitive for podcaster review. The high setting keeps all comments until approved. Podcasters can also add specific words or emojis to automatically flag certain comments for a closer look.

The tool checks comments in various languages, but for now, only English comments can be posted automatically. Until Spotify improves its review system, other languages will need podcaster approval. Podcasters can also turn off comments entirely for episodes if they want.

Since adding comments in July, Spotify users have posted over 2.5 million to 650,000 podcast episodes. Around 44% of published comments get a reaction like or reply from the podcast host. Spotify has been adding new ways to make podcasts more engaging. Features like Q&As, polls, and videos motivate people to listen again sooner. The new moderation tool helps podcasters better manage this community feedback.

With these latest updates, Spotify aims to help more podcaster voices be heard while keeping interactions a respectful space for listeners. The new auto-filter allows podcast episodes to benefit from comment discussions without extra work reviewing each one. With minor tweaks, podcasters can now focus on their content instead of constant comment moderation.
