New Google Meet Feature Makes Recording Calls Automatic

Our smartphones make video meetings so easy to access that it’s harder and harder to come up with a good reason not to participate. However, if you’re unable to make a call, all major platforms allow you to record video meetings for later review. Using a feature like that is only useful if you remember to use it. As of now, Google Meet delivers the ability to automatically transcribe and record calls, so you’ll never miss a recording again.

Workspace users can now select default options to always transcribe or tape Meet calls. So there’s a written or full video record without needing to remember mid-chat. Hosts and guests can still opt-out if wanting privacy.

Accounts with AI assistant Gemini also get default notes. Meaning it listens and jots down key points like you asked.

These recording settings feel like a no-brainer – nobody wants to be the person who forgot an important meeting! And attendees control whether personal info gets documented.

The options rollout over the next few days. But admins must turn them on first. Ultimately, Google Meet’s auto-record ensures all video chat history stays saved without effort. Never risk losing a call’s contents again!
