Apple previously announced it would launch a beta version of its Apple Intelligence AI features in the fall. These features may not be available out of the box on iPhone 16 devices and might instead be available with iOS 18.1 in October. According to a trusted source, two AI features may come even later. Now one Apple expert says two picture editing tools using AI will be delayed.
Mark Gurman, a trusted Apple reporter, says two features using AI won’t come until the iOS 18.2 update in December. The tools are called Image Playground and Genmoji.
Image Playground lets you make pictures based on ideas or keywords. You can also change pictures you already have. Genmoji helps you create custom emojis from your photos. So you could make emojis that look like your friends.
Most Apple Intelligence features may arrive in October with the iOS 18.1 update. But these two picture editing AI tools won’t be ready until the December iOS 18.2 update.
Apple wants to give developers more time to improve the picture tools before users get them. They likely need more testing and updates first. You’ll have to wait a bit longer to try making customized pictures and emojis with your photos using these new AI features from Apple.
Google recently announced helpful new AI tools too when it launched the Pixel 9. Users will have to stay tuned to see which new image editing and AI capabilities each company develops next for their smartphones.
