The advancements in Google Wallet have slowly made it possible to leave your physical wallet at home – for the most part. Although we can’t completely break away from physical cards, the app has developed into a highly versatile digital locker with the ability to store more than just financial cards, including transit cards, IDs, concert tickets, and even passports, among other things.
Google Wallet is getting better at replacing your real wallet. The app from Google can now hold cards from 47 more banks in the USA. It also works with a special card from HealthEquity to save money on medical costs.
Google Wallet keeps improving so you need your physical wallet less. You can put money cards, loyalty cards, tickets, IDs, and more in the app instead of carrying them. The app works at more stores where you can tap to pay instead of swiping a card.
Though many big banks like Chase and Wells Fargo work with Google Wallet already, this adds smaller local banks too. Now credit unions and community bank customers can use the app. The new banks range from Arizona to California, Michigan to Missouri. Even specialty banks focused on farming or railroads made the list.
Setting up is easy – just download the app and add your cards. Some may need you to verify with a text or email first for security. Then you can pay with your phone like your cards. Many people find this more convenient than physical cards.
Not everyone wants a digital wallet instead of a real one. But if you have wanted to try Google Wallet before, now even more banks will work with more people who are able to give it a try easily. Saving space in your pockets or purse by leaving cards at home could be worth a simple sign-up!
