Google has officially announced its plan to pull the plug on the Google Now launcher. This was made known in an email Google sent out to its partners earlier today.
This is estimated to happen by next month and while this only means that the app will only be removed from the app store, Google also made it know that existing users will not be asked to switch away as there are plans to keep supporting them via the other Google products.
Google explained that the reason for this decision is that they feel no need for the Google Now launcher, as they now not only have another launcher in Pixel, but third party launchers are integrating the google search.
In my opinion, this is a really good move and this should help Google to be able to be better in other fronts.
