Google Photos Introduces New Updates Tab

A new “Updates” section in Google Photos allows you to follow activity in your shared albums. According to a Google support post, the new section will display notifications such as updates to shared albums and conversations within Google Photos.

To access this new feature, users will notice a bell icon that replaces the previous Sharing button (which used to show two people). The Updates page organizes all activities in chronological order, making it easy to track changes from today, yesterday, this week, this month, last month, and older periods.

Google’s Photos team explains that this change aims to make the interface more user-friendly, helping users find albums, groups, and conversations more easily. They stated, “We want to streamline how you can view recent activity with an interface that makes albums, groups, and conversations more accessible.”

For users wondering where to find their shared albums, Google has moved them to the new Collections section. This reorganization helps keep all similar features grouped together for better navigation.

The rollout of the Updates page has already begun for both Android and iOS Google Photos apps. However, some users might not see the feature immediately. Google’s Photos team advises checking back over the coming weeks if the feature isn’t currently available on your device.
