Earlier this year, Google announced plans for Gemini 1.5 Flash, which it claims will not only be faster but also support more complex questions. A little over a month ago, Google began deploying Gemini 1.5 Flash for free to users worldwide. In spite of that landmark release, Google continues to work behind the scenes to improve performance and recently shared an update on how fast Gemini is becoming.
Google says that over the past few weeks, it improved Gemini 1.5 Flash so responses are now up to 50% quicker than before. While more speed isn’t completely necessary, it helps conversations feel more natural.
Another way Gemini is upgrading is through “extensions” that allow it to work better with Google apps. It can now integrate with Tasks, like making reminders from chats. While Tasks features launched with Pixel 9 phones, one user spotted the update on their Pixel 8 too. More phones will likely get it soon.
Once updated, Gemini lets you easily create, modify or view tasks directly in conversation. It understands context so the chat flows smoothly.
Have you used Gemini’s new Tasks features yet? Let me know how it’s working! With constant improvements, Google’s chat aide is getting even smarter.
