When Tab groups first came to Chrome for phones, you could share the groups of tabs with friends. But Google got rid of that option later in an update in 2021. Right now, there’s no way to share tab groups, even with special settings. However, Google is working on an improved way that could arrive with upcoming Chrome updates.
Previously, you could share a tab group by tapping the three dots and choosing “Share”. Now Google wants to make it easier by adding a special “Share” button right at the top of each group, next to the buttons for adding more tabs and using the three dots.
To share, you’ll tap that new button. It will open a window where you enter email addresses to invite people to see the tab group. When they accept, their profile picture or first initial will show that they can see it too. The main tabs page will also have a badge on any shared groups.
The three dots in a shared group will give options to manage who can see it, see who looked recently, close the group, or delete it. The three dots on the tabs page will let you open or leave any shared groups.
This tab sharing isn’t working yet in the newest Chrome test version. Google may still tweak things before rolling it out to everyone. So the final version may look a bit different. But it’s great they’re bringing back the handy option to team up and easily send browser tabs with friends!
