Chrome Lets You Listen to Articles On the Go

Earlier this year, Google introduced an accessibility feature in Chrome for Android that lets users listen to webpages. In addition to playback controls and voice options, it came with a full-featured widget. However, background playback was not supported. With the latest update for the browser app, Google has addressed this issue.

The “Listen to this page” option can now play audio in the background even if your screen is off or you switch apps.

A media notification shows the title, site and basic controls. To change playback speed or voice, access the widget in Chrome.

The update is coming with Chrome 130. To use it, select “Listen to this page” from the three-dot menu.

You can also add a toolbar shortcut for quicker access to the listening feature.

Now Android users can enjoy listening to articles while focusing on other tasks thanks to Chrome’s upgraded audio experience.
