Chrome for Android May Soon Get Drag and Drop Feature

There is a possibility that Google will soon add drag-and-drop functionality to Chrome for Android. This feature is already available in the desktop version and helps save time for the average user. Therefore, launching it for Android would be a logical next step that could help improve browsing experience and productivity.

Google is testing the ability to drag and drop files using Chrome for Android. This new feature will allow users to easily move files around within the browser itself. Users will also be able to drag files between different apps on their Android device. Google is currently testing drag and drop in the latest “Dev channel” version of Chrome, which is version 129. Based on the code, it looks like drag and drop may become the default in this update.

As well as drag and drop files, it seems Google is updating the “Recent Searches” feature too. The recent searches section allows users to quickly access searches they’ve done before. In the new version, it appears users will be able to see related search suggestions as they type. This could make finding what you need even faster and easier. While these new features are only in the test version for now, Google may roll them out to everyone if the feedback is good.

In summary, drag and drop files is a handy feature currently missing from Chrome for Android. Being able to easily move files around your phone could save a lot of time compared to the current methods. With Google testing it out, Android users should get to try the new drag and drop feature soon. An improved recent searches option also has the potential to enhance the browsing experience. Only time will tell if Google decides to officially launch these productivity boosting changes.
