Apple Intelligence Launching Pretty Soon According to Leak

Last month, Apple released its iPhone 16 series, but Apple Intelligence AI features weren’t available. Previously, the company said the first AI features would launch next month but didn’t specify a date. Now, a trusted source has given the day.

Respected tech journalist Mark Gurman says in his newsletter that Apple’s AI features will arrive on October 28 with an iOS update. Gurman’s sources tell him iOS 18.1 will include writing assistance tools, object removal in photos, and generating videos from memories.

The update to iOS 18.1 will offer the first wave of promised AI capabilities. But Apple wants more time testing to make sure servers can handle traffic at launch. You’ll get tools for rewriting, summarizing and proofreading text. Photos will enable searching by objects and memories become short videos.

More advanced Apple Intelligence functions are coming later. iOS 18.2 in December adds synthetic face effects and integration with ChatGPT. An improved Siri will roll out with iOS 18.4 in March. So even after October’s release, not every touted AI feature will be ready yet.

This puts Apple in a good position to play catch-up with competitors offering full AI packages already. The Galaxy S24 and Google Pixel 9 debuted with all capabilities built-in. However, the October 28 update gives iPhone fans their first taste of Apple’s new intelligent technologies. Mark Gurman’s leak reveals the official launch date Apple Intelligence users have impatiently awaited.
