Gemini Gets Right to the Point with its New “Ask Gemini” Prompt

Recently, Gemini has undergone a few changes, such as removing the suggestion carousel and the “Chats & Gems” section. As part of this update, Google has made another change to simplify the look of the app. The text prompt when you want to ask Gemini something has been shortened.

Instead of saying “Type, talk, or share a photo to Gemini (Advanced)”, it now just says “Ask Gemini” or “Ask Gemini Advanced”. This makes it quicker and easier for users to know what to do. The new prompt has been added to both the Android version of Gemini and the website version. However, on Apple devices like iPhones, the original longer prompt is still there.

No matter if you use the regular Gemini or the advanced version, the overlay screen will always say “Ask Gemini” to keep it simple. This change follows Google’s move to redesign the Gemini homepage earlier this year. They made it easier on the eyes. In the future, Google may make one more change – allowing the text box to get bigger as you type more, so you don’t feel squished. Reports also say Gemini may soon let you make calls and send messages from locked devices.

Overall, Google wants Gemini to be more streamlined and straightforward. Simplifying the prompt is another step towards that goal. The changes allow users to get their questions answered by Gemini quicker without extra words getting in the way. Google will likely continue tweaking the app design to perfect the user experience.
