Earlier this year, Google Chrome for Android began supporting autofill with third-party password managers. Alternate password managers were hidden behind a flag, but the feature was buggy and didn’t offer consistent autofill suggestions. In the latest Chrome beta release, Google has ironed out these issues, and the feature will be available next month.
The newest beta brings native autofill support for password managers. This allows smoother, glitch-free filling out of logins, passwords, addresses, and payments.
Previously, third parties had to use a workaround that caused scrolling lag and double suggestions. However, Google has now fully integrated autofill to improve the experience.
Chrome 131, launching next month, will enable third-party autofill by default. No need to tinker with settings.
The update gives Android users full access to their preferred password manager from within Chrome. No more app switching just to log in seamlessly.
With bugs banished and the feature made prominent, password handling is set for a refresh on Chrome for Android thanks to expanded third-party support arriving soon.
