Although Apple hasn’t had much success in the smart home market, it’s looking to change that. According to a new report, the company is refocusing its efforts to conquer the space.
Apple aims to take over using artificial intelligence, screens and new software. It created a special Home Ecosystem team staffed with employees from its cancelled car project.
First, Apple Intelligence will power advanced automation using AI. The goal is to have precise control of apps, devices, and media.
The second is a smart display like an affordable iPad. Use it for streaming, calls, browsing or apps on the couch. A rumoured tabletop robot could also monitor security and playback media with high-quality audio for around $1,000.
Finally, Apple is building homeOS – an operating system based on tvOS to tie everything together. The report predicts screens and AI will be the focus.
With Amazon and Google not totally dominant either, there’s a chance for Apple to enter. Its “Secret Strategy For Controlling The Connected Home” may finally make its smart ambitions a success story if all goes according to plan.
