Stay Organized With Google Docs’ New Tab Feature

We’ve all experienced times when writing words seemed like a struggle, but what about the opposite, when words flow like a deluge? You might want to check out a handy new tool coming to Google Docs if you often find documents getting away from you. Google is introducing tabs to Docs to help users better organize lengthy papers.

Tabs work differently than browser tabs – think of them like an interactive table of contents for jumping around your document. All docs start with a default “Tab 1”, but you can add more as needed, similar to adding sheets in Google Sheets. Better yet, rename tabs to something descriptive and even include emojis for easy identification.

The nice thing about Docs tabs is you can drag and drop them to reorder sections. Plus, some tabs can act as parents containing child sub-tabs for deeper organization. This gives you control over how info is presented.

While printing may only show one tab at a time, tabs are great for online collaboration. Large shared files benefit from easy topic access. The new feature rolls out later this month, so look out for tabs in your Google Docs soon. Staying on top of sprawling texts is about to get a whole lot simpler.
