TikTok Opens Monetization to More Users

Earlier this week, TikTok announced that its redesigned “Subscription” monetization offering is rolling out to eligible creators in Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, the U.K., Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and the U.S. TikTok plans to expand the feature to more countries soon. This new feature lets creators offer exclusive videos and experiences to fans who pay a monthly fee.

Previously, TikTok only let creators earn money from “LIVE subscriptions” during live videos. Now, regular video creators can also get paid through subscriptions. Creators can choose between three different pricing levels for subscribers. Fans who pay will get special perks from their favorite creators.

Some benefits for subscribed fans include exclusive videos just for subscribers. Subscribed fans can also chat directly with creators in a private space on TikTok called “Sub Space.” Subscribers get fun digital badges and stickers to use too. Creators can offer one-of-a-kind perks like shoutouts or behind-the-scenes videos too.

To get the subscription option, creators need to be 18 years old with at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last month. Their account also must not have any community guideline violations.

TikTok’s new subscription feature gives another way for popular creators to earn a living from their videos. It also rewards superfans who want a more direct connection to their favorite creators. With subscriptions launching in more countries, many hopeful creators can now look to gain more supporters and increase their income on TikTok.
