The company iFixit that takes electronic devices apart got their hands on the new iPhone 16 soon after it was released. They found it much easier to take apart this time because Apple shared the repair manuals on the first day. While looking inside, they noticed the camera button can really be pressed. There is also a thin wire that may detect how hard you push and a metal piece to keep the chip cool when it’s using artificial intelligence.
The standard iPhone 16 is most interesting because it uses a special glue to hold the battery in place. This glue can be removed with just a tiny bit of electricity. The documentation from Apple matches how the glue company Tesa showed it works. All you need is a small battery like what’s in a remote control. Connect it to the phone for 90 seconds and the old battery will pop out easily.
4To stick the new one back in, just press it into place. Over time it may take a little longer to remove, but on new phones iFixit found 5 seconds was enough with a stronger 20-volt current. Apple said up to 30-volts could work. iFixit also took very close up photos where you can see little ridges in the frame for the battery to stick to.
Changing the battery will be a lot simpler now thanks to the electrically detachable glue. Anyone should be able to swap batteries themselves instead of paying a shop or sending it away. This is better for our wallets and the environment since we aren’t always making new phones. It makes the iPhone easier to reuse and recycle too.
