As wearables like smartwatches and VR headsets are becoming increasingly popular, and smart glasses could be the next big thing. It’s no wonder Meta might be interested in working on a new pair of AR smart glasses. During an interview, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that Meta is working on new smart glasses and that they will likely be revealed later this year.
Now we may have caught our first glimpse of what these smart glasses will look like, thanks to someone spotting them in an old photo shared by Zuckerberg.
A user on the app Threads said they noticed what looked like chunky glasses with weird folding arms in a picture on Zuckerberg’s profile. When they asked Zuck about the glasses, he replied that more details would come later this year.
This lines up with Zuckerberg saying in his recent interview that Meta is nearly ready to show off a prototype of their AR glasses. Many experts think Meta will unveil them at their tech conference in September.
Last year that’s where Meta first showed their Ray-Ban smart glasses. But we don’t know if these new AR glasses will have the Ray-Ban logo or not.
Even if Meta does reveal them soon, it’s unclear when the mass market release would be. Only time will tell if the mystery glasses in Zuck’s photo will be our first glimpse at Meta’s upcoming smart glasses.
